We have recently received reports from some Chromebook and ChromeOS users that the Musicnotes Player for Android app no longer works. It was reported that the app was crashing on startup or playback with the Musicnotes Player for Android app version 2.19.5 and older, particularly on Chromebooks with Intel 64-bit processors.
Unfortunately, Musicnotes has never officially supported the Musicnotes Player for Android to run on ChromeOS. This issue is not a matter of Musicnotes removing support, but may rather be a deeper issue with the development requirements for Chromebook compatibility.
According to Google's Android Developer documentation, it seems that there are components that explicitly need to be present in the app, and several of these seem to be rather deeply rooted changes in how the app is built, requiring significant changes (should Musicnotes opt to support our Android app on Chromebooks).
The Musicnotes Player for Android app version 2.19.6 update address the crashing issue, and can be downloaded via the Google Play Store.
Alternatively, you may access your purchased music using a Chromebook by signing in to the Musicnotes Web App by:
- Returning to our website, www.musicnotes.com,
- Hover over "Apps" located toward the upper-right corner,
- Click on "Web"
