My Library
To manage which songs are downloaded to your device, select the option My Library from the bottom bar in the "Song List".
From there, you can choose any of the following options from the top bar:
- Full Library - This will be a combined list of all of your music from the following 2 points.
- My Musicnotes Songs - This will be a list of your sheet music purchased from Musicnotes, and downloaded to the app.
- My PDFs - This will be a list of your personal, imported PDFs. See additional information in Importing Your Personal Sheet Music (PDFs)
- Setlists - See additional information in Organize Your Library (Folders and Set Lists)
- Folders - See additional information in Organize Your Library (Folders and Set Lists)
- Archive - This will be a list of your sheet music purchased from Musicnotes, but have not been downloaded to the app.
For the sections Full Library and My Musicnotes Songs, you must be online to download songs, but once a song has been downloaded it will be available for viewing and playback even if you are offline.
On the Full Library or My Musicnotes Songs screen, you will see all of your purchases. If the piece is already downloaded to your device, the row text color will be black. If a piece had an issue with downloading, the row text color will be a light gray.
Recent Purchases
Please note: If you do not see a song that you have just purchased, you must refresh the list using the "pull-down" method (scroll past the top of the list and swipe down while pressing on the screen).
Songs are automatically downloaded to your device when you start up the app or log in. If a song had an issue with downloading, you may simply tap on that title, and it will automatically attempt to download and open the piece for you.
Archiving Songs
If you wish to stop seeing a certain song in your song list, you have the option to archive it. This action will move it from the “Full Library” or 'My Musicnotes Songs" tab to the “Archive” tab.
In order to archive a song to your device, tap the three-dot button on the row containing your title.
Then tap the “Archive” button. You will see a message asking you to confirm your decision.
Your archived songs will be removed from the device. To retrieve them, you must navigate to the Archive tab and redownload them. To do this, tap the three-dot button on the row containing the title you wish to un-archive, and tap the “Un-archive” button. You will see a message asking you to confirm your decision. You may also simply tap on your title, and it will automatically download.
Removing PDFs
If you wish to remove all of your imported PDFs from your device, tap the three-dot button in the top-right corner of the screen and choose "Remove All PDFs" from the menu. A dialog will appear asking for confirmation, and then the files will be removed.
Sorting By Category
To sort your songs by Title, Artist, or Purchase Date, tap on the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner of the screen and choose "Sort Songs" from the menu. A popup will appear listing the different categories to sort by, with your current category highlighted. To switch to a different category, simply tap on it, or tap off the screen to return to your song list. Once you select a category to sort by, the dialog will close and your song list will be rearranged by the category you selected.
Performing Bulk Actions
While viewing your song list (My Library) you will see a menu button which has three-dots in the top right. Tap this button to view the bulk actions menu.
Select Songs
The second option in the bulk action menu is "Select Songs", which allows you to choose which songs on which to perform an action.
After choosing "Select Songs" from the bulk action menu, the top bar will contain new actions. The action "Add To" option will add selected items to a set list or folder of your choosing, the Archive button will archive selected items so that they are no longer on the device.
While the top bar displays the bulk actions, all of the song rows will also contain a radial button. Tap on each title row that you would like to apply a bulk action to, and the actions will activate based on their relevance. In other words, the Download button will not appear enabled until you select a title that is not yet downloaded, and the Archive button will not be enabled until you check a song that's already on your device.
Download All Songs
If you wish to download all of your songs at once, choose the Download All Songs option from the menu. A gray bar will appear along the top of the screen showing the download progress of all the songs. You may cancel the download by tapping on the "X" button in the top right corner of the gray bar.
If you wish to remove all the songs from your device, tap the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner of the screen and choose "Remove All Songs" from the menu. A dialog will appear asking for confirmation, and then the songs will be removed. Similarly, if you would like to remove only your personal imported PDFs while retaining your Musicnotes songs, choose "Remove all PDFs".
If you wish to remove all downloaded songs from your device, choose "Remove All Songs" from the menu. A dialog will appear asking for confirmation to remove your selected items, and your purchased songs will be removed.
Adding More Sheet Music
New sheet music can be purchased either:
- From within the app, by choosing the Shop menu option within the app,
- Or, from the Musicnotes website, by going directly to Musicnotes.com in any web browser.
Every month Musicnotes also provides a Free Song of the Month. If you would like to access the Free Song of the Month in the app, you can go to our Free Music page and add it through the checkout process. This process allows our customers to maintain access to the free songs on all of their devices and also allows them to print from the website.
