The Markup Menu
To add markup to your music, select the Markup menu button in the top toolbar on larger screen devices, or from the Options menu on smaller screen devices.
From here you can choose to add Text, Pen, or Highlighter marks to your music. Or, you can choose to delete or hide the markups that are already there.
Each tool also has its own sub-menu that allows you to alter that tool's markings for a given piece. Switching tools and their properties will automatically activate the tool.
When you are finished using any markup tool, close the menu by pressing white "X" to the left of the markup tools.
Text Comments
To add a text comment to a piece of music you are working with, select "Text Comments" in the markup menu. Your sheet music will now appear "highlighted." Tap on the page where you would like the comment to appear.
After you add your text comment, a text editor window will display. For a new text comment, click in the text field. The editor options to the left of the text comment button allow you to select a font, size, and color.
To edit a comment that already exists, click on the text tool and select the text markup; the editor options will display. You can also delete a single comment using the red "X" in the upper-right corner of the text comment; you may also highlight all of the text in a comment and press on your the keyboard.
Once your text is added to the page, you may re-position it by clicking and dragging the text comment.
Highlighter
From the markup menu you can select the highlighter tool. When drawing with a highlighter, the mark made will be see-through, and the music on the page (and other markups) will be visible through the mark.
When using the highlighter, you can choose the size of the line and the color. There is also an eraser option that you can select, located to the left of the color selection.
Pen
From the markup menu, you can select the pen tool. When drawing with a pen, the mark made will be solid, and will write over the music on the page.
When using the pen tool, you can choose the size of the line and the color. There is also an eraser option that you can select located to the left of the color selection.
Markup Sync
Musicnotes Pro members can sync their markup notations between iOS, Android, and Windows devices.
Active Stylus, Surface Pen, and Windows Inking
- It will work for drawing on the screen with a Markup tool selected.
- It doesn't support Windows Inking features; the active pen will work like mouse pointer or mouse cursor.
- For Surface Pen users - The one exception to this is if you have the Pen or Highlighter markup tool selected, you can turn the Surface Pen around to erase that type of markup (at the same width setting for the eraser as the Markup tool) without having to manually select the Eraser tool within the Pen or Highlighter Markup tool. Other active styli may support this feature; if not, you will need to manually select the Eraser tool within the Pen or Highlighter Markup tool.
