Please Note: The Musicnotes Viewer for iOS app is considered legacy software; it will not receive any future software updates. This article has been retained for resource purposes only.
You may continue to use the app, however as time progresses, you may experience more and more frequent issues when using the legacy app to access your purchased music.
Additionally, this legacy app will be unable to access newer product types that may have been purchased under your Musicnotes account.
For the best digital sheet music experience, we recommend either:
- Downloading and signing in to the Musicnotes Player for iOS app, available for download from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPads running iOS or iPadOS, or,
- Signing in to the Musicnotes Web App in your web browser.
To manage which songs are downloaded to your device, choose the Manage section from the left slide-out menu. You must be online to download songs, but once a song has been imported it will be available for viewing and playback even if you are offline.
On the Manage screen, you will see all of your purchases with a Musicnotes button on the far left. If the piece is already downloaded, the button will be green. If it is not on your device, the button will be gray. The title of a piece that is not imported will also appear slightly grayed out in comparison to those that are on your device.
Please note: If you do not see a song that you have just purchased, you must refresh the list using the "pull-down" method (scroll past the top of the list).
Above the list is a filter bar that allows you to show only those songs that are or are not imported onto your device.
In order to import a song, tap the gray button on its row. It will change to a "Download" button. Tap this button to confirm that you wish to download a piece.
While the download is occurring, there will be a Stop button available. Tap this button to cancel the download.
In order to remove a song from your device, tap the green button on its row. It will change to a "Remove" button. Tap this button to confirm that you wish to remove the song. You can freely re-import any removed songs. Songs can also be removed from your device using the swipe menu in the All Songs view.
If you wish to remove all the songs from your device, tap the Overflow menu button in the top-right corner of the Manage screen and choose "Remove All Songs" from the menu. A dialog will appear asking for confirmation, and then the songs will be removed.
If you wish to import all of your songs at once, choose "Download All Songs" from the menu. After you confirm your choice, a dialog will appear showing the download progress of all the selected songs. You can cancel the import using the "X" button in the top right corner of this dialog.
Importing Many Titles at Once
If you wish to select several songs for removal or import at once, you can use the "Select" option in the Overflow menu of the Manage section, which brings up a selection view of all your songs. The selection view is also brought up if you choose to Import after receiving a pop-up message that new songs are available.
In the selection view, you will see check marks next to pieces you have already downloaded, and empty circles next to pieces that are not yet on your device. Change the check marks so that only the pieces you want to have on your device are selected, then tap the "Update" button on the top right.
A dialog will appear showing the download progress of all the selected songs. You can cancel the import using the "X" button in the top right corner of the dialog.
The selection view also has a filter bar at the top to show only those songs that are selected or not selected. It also has a toolbar at the bottom which allows you to "Select All" or "Select None". If you use "Select All" or "Select None," you will still have to use the "Update" button to start the update.
To cancel your selections and return to the previous screen, use the "Cancel" button on the top left.
