What are the different product types that Musicnotes sells?

Musicnotes offers a variety of different products and memberships. Some product types will have icons that can be found on product pages, and you can click on the link in the search results - Official, Collection, MN Editions, Digital Book, or Marketplace - to get a description of each product type. 

 

Product Types

Digital Sheet Music

Musicnotes Digital Sheet Music products

Musicnotes Digital Sheet Music products . This type of digital file can be printed (one successful print per purchase) and can be synced to any of our apps or viewed on the Musicnotes Web App.

Digital Sheet Music products are available in interactive and non-interactive varieties; this will be identified on each product page, under the quick details section near the product preview.
  • Interactive - When downloaded to a Musicnotes app, these products can be viewed and played back.
  • Non-Interactive - When downloaded to a Musicnotes app, these products can be viewed.
    • Please note: Currently, these products can only be viewed in our modern Musicnotes apps for iOS, Android, Windows 10 and Windows 11, macOS, and the Musicnotes Web App.

When searching for music on the Musicnotes website, click the "Product Type" drop-down, and select "Official" to filter down to just official Musicnotes Arrangement products.

 

Musicnotes Editions

Musicnotes Editions Musicnotes Editions will include all of the same features of our standard digital sheet music products, with the exception that Musicnotes Editions have unlimited prints. 

When searching for music on the Musicnotes website, click the "Product Type" drop-down, and select "MN Editions" to filter down to just Musicnotes Edition products.

 

Musicnotes Collections

Musicnotes Collections collections_newicon.pngThis type of digital file includes (or bundles) two or more Musicnotes files and is listed at a reduced price. Once purchased, the songs will be listed individually in your Musicnotes account on the website and in the apps.

When searching for music on the Musicnotes website, click the "Product Type" drop-down, and select "Collections" to filter down to just Musicnotes Collection product bundles.
 

Digital Music Books

Digital Music Books Music Book This type of digital file is a longer-format music product that will often include topics - but not limited to - technique, collections of pieces, reference material, history, and more! Once purchased, these products can be viewed in our Musicnotes apps and the Musicnotes Web App.

When searching for music on the Musicnotes website, click the "Product Type" drop-down, and select "Digital Book" to filter down to just Digital Music Book products.

 

Musicnotes Marketplace

Musicnotes MarketplaceMarketplace products are arrangements that are self-published by Marketplace Creators, and allow for new and unique arrangements of copyrighted music, plus original works!
As these arrangements are user-created, Musicnotes does not assist in the creation or editing of these products. This is why features - such as transpositions, playback within the Musicnotes apps, etc. - are not present for Marketplace products
 
When searching for music on the Musicnotes website, click the "Product Type" drop-down, and select "Marketplace" to filter down to just Marketplace Arrangement products.
 

Add-On Products

Add-On Products can be selected on the product page or in your shopping cart - when available for select products - prior to purchasing.

  • The optional PDF add-ons can be purchased at the time of purchasing the standard digital sheet music product, or after having purchased the standard digital sheet music product first.
  • How to Import Musicnotes Sheet Music Into the forScore App
  • Marketplace arrangements will not have the option for customers to purchase an optional PDF add-on product.
    • However, for customers that have:
      •  
        • An active Musicnotes Pro - Annual, or Musicnotes Pro - Premium membership subscription, and,
        • Then purchase a Marketplace arrangement (while their qualifying membership is active)
      • Will be able to download PDFs for Marketplace arrangements -either on the Musicnotes website, or in a Musicnotes app, while their membership is active.

  • You can browse the selection of digital sheet music products with optional, accompanying trainers here.
