It is not uncommon for customers to report that when printing the staff runs off of the bottom or side of the page, or for the customer to report that the print is much too small on the page. This is caused by the printing scale setting within the browser, and not always displayed within the Musicnotes Print Steps. The following steps, organized by web browser, show how to check and correct the browser scale settings.
Browsers:
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Safari
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium) (released in January 2020, and available for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 and macOS)
- Microsoft Edge (EdgeHTML) (released with Windows 10)
Internet Explorer:
You may see this problem when attempting to print using Internet Explorer. This is resolved by adjusting a setting in the browser's print options.
The "Menu" button - which looks like a mechanical gear icon - is located in the upper right hand corner of the window. Once you have opened the menu, hover your mouse over the "Print" option. In the next menu that opens, please select "Page Setup". There will be an option on the small window that opens to select "Shrink to fit page width" or "Enable Shrink-to-fit'. Please make sure that this option is checked.
Once it is checked, you will need to click "OK" to close out of this window then please select "Close" in the upper right to close the print preview. Then please follow the steps below to print your music again.
· Click on "My Account" at the top of any www.musicnotes.com page
· Sign in as a returning Musicnotes customer if you're not already signed in
· Click on "Print Your Sheet Music"
· Click "Print" to the right of the song title you would like to print
Mozilla Firefox:
You may see this problem when attempting to print using Mozilla Firefox. This is resolved by adjusting a setting in the browser's print options.
Please navigate to the menu which will be located in the upper right and look like three horizontal lines. Click the menu button and then click on "Print" which is located approximately three quarters of the way down the list.
In the next window that opens please make sure that the "Scale" setting, located at the top center of the new window, is set to "Shrink to Fit".
Once it is checked you will need to click OK to close out of this window then please select "Close" in the upper right to close the print preview. Then please follow the steps below to print your music again.
· Click on "My Account" at the top of any www.musicnotes.com page
· Sign in as a returning Musicnotes customer if you're not already signed in
· Click on "Print Your Sheet Music"
· Click "Print" to the right of the song title you would like to print
Google Chrome:
You may see this problem when attempting to print using Google Chrome. This is resolved by adjusting a setting in the browser's print options, please navigate to the menu which will be located in the upper right and look like three dots arranged vertically. Click the menu button and then click on "Print" which is located approximately half way down the list.
In the next window that opens, expand the "More Settings" options by clicking on the arrow to the right of the text. Several new options will now be displayed. Locate the "Scale" setting and make sure it is set to "Default".
Once it is checked you will want to click on the Cancel button to store the changes (The changes will save despite having clicked on cancel). Then please follow the steps below to print your music again.
· Click on "My Account" at the top of any www.musicnotes.com page
· Sign in as a returning Musicnotes customer if you're not already signed in
· Click on "Print Your Sheet Music"
· Click "Print" to the right of the song title you would like to print
Safari:
You may see this problem when attempting to print using Safari. This is resolved by adjusting a setting in the browser's print options, please navigate to the menu option "File", then click on "Print" which is located toward the bottom of the list.
In the next window that opens, you may need to expand the printer dialogue window by clicking on the "Show Details" button near the bottom of the window. Several new options will now be displayed. Locate the "Scale" setting and make sure it is set to "100%".
Once adjusted, you will want to click on the Cancel button to store the changes (The changes will save despite having clicked on cancel). Then please follow the steps below to print your music again.
